Generally, you’ll find a variety of spaces to run through and hide in. Whether or not you manage to survive for long enough to reach them is another story! There’ll be a lot of places indoors for you to take refuge from our larger dinosaurs. The jungle is not the only playable area in Deathground After all, things always feel much scarier when you believe them to be real.
But it should be clear now that we’re working on a realistic art style for Deathground. While we need to keep some things a surprise, for now, here’s another sneak peek at one of our indoor spaces.ĭeathground’s indoor areas won’t just be buildings, we’ve gone underground too.We may be leaving you in the dark about what our other areas might look like for the time being. The environments have evolved a lot since the pre-alpha demo and what you’ve seen in our earliest trailer. Lighting is a high priority for us to nail as it will naturally play its own part when it comes to building up the anxiety-inducing ambience in all playing areas.ĭespite the darkness and low lighting, our artists aren’t cutting any corners when it comes to texturing Deathground’s playable areas. Now that you’ve seen how our art team have been building up the elements out in the Jungle, let’s talk about what else we’ve been working on indoors.Īs you already know, we’re going for a dark and deadly vibe. And check out our recent preview of The Devil in Me.When you’re outside in Deathground, it’s any dino’s game.
The next entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology, The Devil in Me, arrives on November 18th.
DEATHGROUND XBOX PC
The Quarry, which includes the likes of Ted Raimi, David Arquette, Lance Henriksen, and Lin Shaye, is out now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC via Steam. “Also when you get somebody like Tom Cruise, that becomes what could be a budget of an entire game just on him. So that becomes a bit of an issue,” he explained. It’s mostly about the number of days we have them for, because it’s very expensive, and shooting this takes a long time. He also believes that it won’t be long before the big-name Hollywood actors join in on the fun. What we’re looking at now, and I can’t tell you exactly what it is, is a bit of a diversion away from that sort of standard, but it’s still very much classic horror.”Īnd for those that enjoyed seeing genre favourites appear in The Quarry, Byles says that Supermassive is going to do the same with this project. The Dark Pictures explores hundreds of variants of the horror genre. “I don’t know how far we can stretch the teen horror thing out further, because especially when we try to stir it up, the number of surprises you can add to that becomes limited. It’s equivalent in size to The Quarry… and that’s about as much as I can say without giving too much away.”īyles did allude to what can be seen as a departure from what Supermassive Games had done with their horror games in the past. Again, it’s the same sort of horror genre, we’re sticking to that. I can’t really tell you very much at all about it, but we have started. Speaking with Video Games Chronicle, Supermassive Games studio director Will Byles stated that the team’s next horror project will be about the same scale as The Quarry, with a targeted release of 2025 or 2026. Supermassive Games is diving once again into horror with its upcoming project, which will no doubt please fans of their recent efforts in The Quarry, and in the ongoing The Dark Pictures Anthology. Thanks to DSOGaming for spotting this one. Meanwhile, Instinction and Deathground are expected to be released later this year for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series. Wilson even rigged and animated Regina for a cool turnaround, which you can see below. Wilson updated Regina to look stylistically as close to Leon, Claire, Jill and Carlos from Capcom’s remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, while also maintaining semblance of Regina’s look from the original Dino Crisis. But what if Capcom did decide to given Regina and company a new life? One artist has decided to whip up something that could give us a glimpse into what it would look like.Ĭharacter Designer Mike Wilson (no relation) has posted his take on a modern Regina on his ArtStation, using Epic’s shiny new Unreal Engine 5. With games like Deathground and Instinction on the way, at least fans have spiritual successors to look forward to. Yeah, we know it sucks that for whatever reason, Capcom still hasn’t budged (as far as we know) on revisiting the Dino Crisis series.
